The conquest of Mallorca, from the point of view of the defeat Muslims has been presented at Madrid's book fair. The manuscript, titled Kitab ta´rih Mayurqa, is an Arab chronicle of The Catalan-Aragonese conquest of the island and came to light after a chance discovery in a private library in Algeria in 2001. Written by Ibn Amira al-Mahzumi (1186-1269), a chancellor in the Almohad government, the manuscript was a huge hit when it was published in Catalan, earlier this year and is now available in Castellano. Till now, apart from a few fragments, the only chronicle of the bloody events of 1229 had come down to us from Christian writers. |
